Attendance

 Attendance at All Saints

At All Saints we recognise there is a very clear link between the regularity of which children attend school and their academic achievement. Our school day timings are as follows:

  • Staggered entry from 8:40am-8:50am
  • Registration is at 8:50am
  • Lunch 12:00pm – 1:00pm
  • School finishes at 3:15pm

Parents are asked to bring or send their children to school for a prompt 8:50am start but no earlier than 8:40am.  At 8:40 am the school doors will be open for the children who may then make their way to their classrooms.

The total hours in school per week for Reception/ Key Stage 1/2 are 25.25 hours.
(This includes registration time, playtimes and the daily assembly but not lunchtime).

 Absence Procedure

If for any reason your child can not make it in to school, please ensure you phone the school office on 01933 225888 and leave a message detailing:

1. Name of Child.

2. Child's Class

3. Reason for absence (Please ensure you leave details and not just "unwell")

How can you help us meet our attendance target?

  • Think carefully before taking time off for sickness. Clearly if your child is very poorly, has vomited or experienced diarrhoea, then they do need to stay at home (48 hour policy), but often a spoonful of Calpol works wonders!
  • At school, we can administer prescribed medication as well as non prescribed medication now, so even if your child needs a midday dose of medication we can ensure this happens safely in school.
  • Please make hospital, dentist appointments outside of school times where possible.
  • Please do not request term time leave for holidays, family events etc, The Education Regulations make it clear that Headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Unauthorised absence can attract a fine, currently this is £60, per child per day – each adult is equally liable so for a child living with both parents this fine in reality is £120 per day.
  • Please come and talk to us if you are having difficulties getting your child into school in the mornings, we are happy to help, and would much rather support you in dealing with any issues as and when they arise.

For some parents, 90% may seem like an acceptable level of attendance, but the reality is that 90% attendance means that your child will miss half a school day each week or 19 days of school during the school year – that’s nearly 4 school weeks.
